Is it possible to use yogurt in place of quark? My German Mom used to make this when I was a kid but I can't find her recipe. Thank you for your reply.

People can be so nasty🙄. My mum use to make a mayonnaise based potato salad. Later, she added yogurt instead of mayonnaise. I make potato salad only with potatoes, pickeled cucumbers and red onions. I then add some of the water from the cucumbers, olive oil, salt and pepper...and that's it. I have added yogurt instead of mayonnaise, but my kids prefer it without...i think, it is just fine the way you make your potato salads,i would say both are authentic😉 . Have a lovely sunday🌻☕️.

My mother is from Germany and she makes the vinegar and oil type with mayonnaise. She is from Obernau which is in Hessen or Bavaria I believe. Her Potato Salad is all the rave at her Church's Potlucks and friends of the family offer to pay her for a bowl of her Potato Salad. It is especially good warm and just made.

Gotta ask, how do you make sesame & sunflower seeds stick to Brötchen? I lived in Germany for many years and spent a lot of time in German hotels on business travel . . . the hotel breakfast was GREAT! I’ve had little success getting seeds to stick to my Sonnenblummenkernrnbrötchen . . . trying to replicate the ones I bought at the Bäckerei at Mangfallplatz (München) on Saturday mornings. It took me 20 years to master home-roast Kaffe, now I crave those Semmelbrötchen.

I am from the south of Germany. Vinegar, Oil, broth and bacon are a must in salad. We never had it with mayo. I was introduced to potato salad with mayo here in USA. It is a regional thing as with every German cooked recipe. Liebe Grüße aus Chicago USA

Es stimmt mit der mayo... I'm Ami born, but lived in Germany for nearly 30 years. I lived mostly in Hessen and Franken, but my family is from Hochsauerland originally. Northern and even very southern Germany usually have a mayo based potato salad. Oil/vinegar is more south/middle of Hessen through Franken and Schwaben the typical recipe. My experience has bacon only being used in Franken. But, you might have grown up in the region quite close to Franken. _(I know people in Amorbach make with bacon.)_ Recipe-wise; Have you ever tried putting your diced onion into the bacon/bacon fat mix for a short while? And yes, German onions are very, very different. I'd actually suggest Americans to use a white onion, and for sure not a Wallawalla or a Maui Gold. Too sweet and *far too much* water in them. If I can't get a small white onion, I used fresh green onion _(scallions)_ instead of an onion/chives mix. Btw, I use the bacon grease instead of oil, so must be served warm. And since having lived in Unterfranken, apple cider vinegar, but also a dash of mustard, and a finely chopped clove of garlic, is a must. For me, mayo-based potato salad is for with fish. Especially if the fish has been coated. That's classically German; Knusperfisch mit Kartoffelsalat. One of the top selling items at NORDSEE. _(Germany's top fast-food place.)_

Many variations, many regional preferences. All delicious. It’s a shame to not try them all. Same with herringsalat - some with beets, some not - all delicious. I do love the warm potato salad. ❤

Im 51 and for the last 19 months I've gone animal based. I double render tallow from the butcher (I'm actually going to pick some up today because I'm going camping for 4 days and I don't want to be without it) and it's all i use on my skin. At night I slather it all over my face and massage it in, wipe it off with a warm cloth. Thats my washing and moisturizing all in one. No other face cleanser, moisturizer or product is in my house. Works like a charm. My photo is a year old. No filters. Nature works best for me. Great video!

I just made the vinegar and oil warm potato salad last week. My recipe is very different from yours although it came from my sister's husband grandmother who was German born and married a German born man. I didn't know mayonnaise potato salad was a German thing. Normally I make the mayonnaise type. Enjoyed the video.😊

The cushion came out great! I wish I knew how to sew. I'd love to learn. I think it all looks really nice and love your "puppy". I call mine "puppy" still too, and she just turned 16 last week. Praise God! I love the bandana you have for her. Our local library had a thing where you can make a garland from ribbon for the 4th. I did that and made it for the doorway inside. It's nice to decorate and just spruce things up a bit here and there when you can. It's nice to be able to DIY it as well because it doesn't cost as much, depending on what it is. Like those pillows you got. I'll have to check out Joann's. Have a Happy and Blessed Independence Day! ❤🤍💙

Very nice! We split our summer decorations into two phases. 1. What I call patriotic season (Memorial Day weekend to the weekend after U.S. Independence Day) with red, white and blue or other patriotic themed decorations. 2. Summer (The weekend after U.S. Independence Day to the first weekend of September) with tan, yellow and aqua with seashells, or other beach and Summer themed decorations.
